I use pata_cypress on Alpha, and for the above mentioned problems,
it always restricted me to use only one IDE channel out of the two
available. Also, not forcing it to use PIO mode, it always failed to

while back is still present in 2.4.6-pre6 (hard crash when doing "cat
whatever > /dev/dsp1" where /dev/dsp1 is an external USB audio device, where

2.4.3 is the latest kernel that works for me. The symptoms when booting a
later kernel is a clean boot as far as kdm (KDE's xdm replacement). When
logging in there, the system freezes completely about halfway through login.
I can find no messages in the logs, and once /var/log/messages had a
ecking transaction log (device 16:41) ...
reiserfs: replayed 5 transactions in 4 seconds

It seems the problem occurs every time i start fetchmail... Attached are
ksymoops output and .config (if i remember this time). If there is anything
