will probably fail on any other version of the kernel.
Of note: Nvidia have a new driver in the works, that should be much nicer
re: kernel interface.

implemented (doesn't sound that easy, but then, not much with the kernel
does). However I think the idea is sound, and could at least do with some
consideration.
