This is incorrect. PPPoE (PPP over Ethernet - you both missed a P) is a
common (in the USA, at least) form of low-price DSL connection. I've never
heard of it being used by a
I think I've got something missing in my install.

Hi,
lately error and other messages or put into /var/spool/mqueue/ and then mailed

Chuck,
Earthlink has a DSL PPPoE client for Linux program that can be downloaded
from their web page. I was unable to make it work with my Mandrake 7.0 Linux
installation. When I called the Earthlink tech support phone line for
assistance, the person I spoke to could not help me with the Earth
Hi, Peter:
No. I'll delve deeper into the HOWTOs for the mini list.
I'm trying to get my box to recognize the second ethernet card.
I've done this before. About a year ago. I got the box to recognize
3 ethernet cards. Now I forgot how. I've put
append="ether=11,0x300,eth0 ether=10,0x200,eth1"
Have you read the ADSL mini-HOWTO?
PPoE is for cablemodems, I think.
Another tip: I have found that shopping around for linux-friendly ISPs will
probably also find you a cheaper connection! ;^)

Thanks, Chuck
