during boot that message "Checking filesystem..." is reporting:

The plot thickens. I just discovered the script command that allows me
to view the output when I run startx as root (which loads
succesfully). The result is instructive.
When I inserted a new nVidia graphics card (and even after after
replacing it with the old card of the same type), users could n

Greetings,
I just upgraded from RH6.2 to RH7.3. I've been fighting with it for several days now.
My last, big 'fight' is with tripwire. I keep getting cron mail that tripwire had all
sorts of troubles. It gives me commands to 'fix' the trouble, and have run them;
however the problems apparen

Hello,
I am having problems compiling Audacity 1.0.0 on both a SuSE 8.0 and a Slackware 8.1
system. I ran configure using `./configure --with-arts-soundserver --with-id3`. If I

Your message was pretty hard to read, dut to its lack of paragraphing, so I
hope I'm reading it right. Shorn of detail, you need a way to make LILO
successfully boot multiple candidate OSs, each with an associated kernel
and root partition. You do this by editing (as root) the file

It does not really make any differance which system installed lilo, the
secret is mounting all your disks/partitions where "lilo" can reach them all
in one go, you can define a
Greetings: Several weeks ago I changed from two drives, /hda and
/hdb, with the hdb drive setup to boot using LILO.. (All partitions
on both drives Linux or Swap, no other o/s.) The /hda drive was
needed elsewhere so I changed the entry in fstab so that the old hdb
was now hda and it's been working

Do you mean that you completely removed one hard disk, which contained
_all_ of the partitions on the system, and replaced it with a completely
different disk which had a different system installed on it?
It sounds like you are talking about a laptop. Is that true?
How about if you create a new a
