Until I went to RH8.0, I used to be able to switch window managers to
compare their features, but now I no longer know how to do it. I want
to try sawfish, but that's only offered as an alternative desktop
environment to gnome, not as a window manager to run under
gnome. Running xinit sawfish doesn't work because I'm already running
an X server.

Two questions:

1. Is it possible to switch window managers under my RedHat 8.0 gnome
desktop without exiting X? When I decide on a manager, can I put it
into ~/.Xinitrc to override the default?

2. All I want to do is to run a window manager that will support
window stacking. The wm web sites don't worry much about this
feature, so I'm stuck just trying them out to see if stack control
is included. Enlightenment suports it nicely, but under RH8.0,
getting it to run under gnome is a risky business. Does sawfish
support stack vs. queue for window placement?
