I have recently ventured into configuring and using X with a local
flavour of Redhat (kernel 2.2.10), XFree86 3.3.1 and KDE 1.1.1.
Mouse is a Logitech PS/2 Wheelmouse.

Now in X, I get a white 1"x1" square in lieu of a mouse pointer.
This square has limited functionality. I can click and double-click
with it, but cannot, for instance, resize a window.

Is there a quick fix for this? Ideally without having to upgrade
XFree86.

My search for a solution took me to the webpage for
XFree 4.0 which seemed to have a solution for this but I was
hoping to resolve this without an upgrade .... and another
inevitable learning curve. [Not that learning is bad, but I am
in the middle of another project right now and could do without
a distraction.]

I have tried the XFree86 list but received no answer. This newbie
list, on the other hand, almost never failed me.

TIA
Shaggy
