The coded checks were < 0.90, but the latest to ever show up was
0.50beta3 (kernel.org/pub/linux/daemons/raid/)
My problem is the MVP3 chipset is not seen by linux even with this patch as
ATA-66 compatible. My ATA-33 drive shows better transfer rates with
tiobench than the ATA-66... hdparm won't allow me to set ATA-66 either...
Tells me UDMA modes 3/4 are not available. In the Dmesg it identifies the

Just FYI, a run on a Netfinity 5000 with a ServeRAID card and two IBM 8G
LVD disks plugged into a backplane. I can dig up the model if it makes
things more meaningful. mem=16M, runlevel 1, numruns 5.. you know the
drill. AFAICS to me the ServeRAID is LVD as well, which should give us
80Mb/s max t

ide_2_2_14_2124 takes care of ATA-66 drivers. They are n
When booting my new Dell 4400, pre-installed with Red Hat 6.1, the
raid5 checksumming function it chooses is not the fastest. I get:
raid5: measuring checksumming speed
raid5: KNI detected,...
pIII_kni: 1078.611 MB/sec
raid5: MMX detected,...
pII_mmx : 1304.925
So, I upgraded the firmware on the card from 4.16 to I think 4.23??? and
then I opted to install in the text mode. If I hade more time I would
verify which enabled the install to work. However, it went on just fine.
One note though, every time the fs is formatted, the block size is set to
4096.
