I have been subscribed to the RAID mailing list for a while and am
interested in the
general too'ing and fro'ing withing this list but it's all getting too
much for my mailer .
Is there a digest for the RAID mailing list a la LKML ? if not could one
be set-up ?

I have heard people mentioning that running the OS on a RAID device is a
bad idea , why is this ?
We have an external SCSI raid controller that presents itself to the
system as a SCSI hard drive (/dev/sda)
Would i be right in assuming that putting the OS on this is not a

I was wondering if any of you may be able to offer advice on suitable
RAID configurations to use for
our new raid sub-system as it's all a bit scary when you've never done
it before .
The hardware is as follows :
