If you want to protect yourself against system failures, then you'll
probably want to couple raid with a transaction filesystem like Rieser.

It should be possible. I've successfully done this with raid 1 outside the
redhat-6.1 install procedure, and with raid 1 AND raid 5 within the
install procedure. (Ie, resynch during mke2fs, mount and copy stuff in :)
