SuSE 5.1 Linux, kernel 2.0.35 using linear mode to pack several drives
together for a news spool.

I am using the mdtools with the SuSE dist. 

I have a feeling I'm missing a step.

Clues? Pointers to the latest docs and utils appreciated.

I'm getting an awful lot of these.
