Hi!

I'm setting up a RAID1 array, and in testing it by removing power to
drive, I notice that about half the time the system appears to hang.
Sometimes if I wait long enough, it will come back, but not always.

So my question is, what equipment do I need to ensure that when a drive
fails, it fails cleanly? Do I need specific drives, enclosures, cables,
and/or IDE chipsets for this to work?

How about some datapoints, with hardware that works and hardware that
doesn't?

Here's what's not working for me:
Ocean motherboard with 430HX chipset
MobileRack removable drive bays
2 Fujitsu 4GB drives

Here's what _has_ worked for me:
Promise FastTrack IDE RAID controller (using software raid, since this
card doesn't seem to support it in hardware)
Promise FastSwap drive bays
2 Fujitsu 4GB drives

Strangely enough, I can't get the Promise FastSwap drive bays to work with
the onboard IDE chipset, only with the FastTrack controller.

Any comments?
S. Shore
