Make sure you get a real kernel to start with from kernel.org,
not a kernel-o-matic.rpm from RH.

Yes, you do... all kernels ship with 0.4x raid
use the 2.2.11 patch from kernel.org's linux/daemons/raid

The kernel config options in the 2.2.x series are not compabible with
raidtools-0.90. For kernel 2.2.13, you can download the patch

You have to patch because plain 2.2.13 kernel has an 'old style' raid,
while raidtools-0.90 are designed for 'new
