The kernel requeste me to sent a message to this list. The kernel was a monolithic 2.5.75. The camera that prompted the message is a Fuijfilm Finepix 2800Zoom which is perfectly accesible via /dev/sda1 under linux-2.4.21. I don't know how to access it with 2.5.75. If you do, please tell me. I'm not on this list.
