The previous patch (v0.1) did not work for me. The one I advised
is v0.2 which works for me.

It works for any kernel >2.4.
The kernel is to be recompiled. select CF option also, when you do config.

A manufacturer of ISDN terminal adapters needs a kernel developer for one of
its usb TA's.
The manufacturer would supply you with firmware and chipset specs, a unit,
and win32 driver sources are pending.

Thanks Bjorn & Dmitri.
Do you think i can power the USB enclosure externally with say a 6V (500mA)
supply, and that do the trick (i think most power adapters that you find
with telephone/answeringmachine etc. fit that range, atleast in the
US)...!!!
powering thru the IDE directly might be hec
hi dmitri,
thanks for your very valuable comments. since i am far from pro with USB,

You'll have to poll. The device doesn't generate any special messages or

I've just bought a Sandisk SDDR-31. Is there any support for
recognizing when a CF card has been plugged in to the device, or do I
have to "poll". I'm hoping there is a "hotplug" event.

It's definitely possible (dont ask me how though) because I do have one -
albeit not that particular model or manufacturer - that i use with my
windows laptop as a backup device (running the old HD from that laptop).
I've never had any problems with it, not tried to get it to work under
linux

Actually 2.5" harddisks don't use +12V, only +5V. It seems most drives
need more than the maximum 2.5W when spinning up but less

Thanks to Dmitri, Vojtech, Greg and everyone for your help in identifying the
trouble with my USB mouse support.
In the end it turned out that I was building all of the necessary modules into
the kernel directly (is there any harm in doing this?), and the problem with
my mouse was independent
