Hey all - Mike Beattie sent me this. Pia Smith is the President of Linux Australia, and he's going to be in the country for a few days. Unfortunately I have no time to organise anything. Does someone want to arrange a communal geek lunch or dinner or something while he;s here?

You'd need to be back in Auckland on the night of the 12th to get to the airport on time that early on the 13th. Cold? yeah, around about now it's a bit nippy. *Do* pack some warm pants and top. a jacket wouldn't go astray if it's wet/*really* cold. I'd suggest strongly that you visit the Christchurch and Wellington crews, definitely Wgtn if you want to do some sort of government type stuff.. but you'll probably try to tee up an appointment with an appropriate minister around about now, if you want to do that. Sam may be able to help you there. > I'm hoping like crazy that this fits in with other peoples schedules, > as it is my only opp for a while. Do you have time to show a poor > bewildered aussie the sights? :) With that time frame, this early, I'd say you won't get any skiing in! :) I can show you what Dunedin has (not a hell of a lot, in that time..).. Sam and Craig can show you the other centres. (They can probably suggest an Aucklander that's appropriate for your visit.. (Simon Lyall?)) Anyway, you'll need to make some choices about if you want to do CHCH/WGTN/Dunedin, but you could probably do all three with a well set up set of flights from auckland.. (something like: AKL->CHC->DUD->WGN->AKL) I can probably put you up on one of those nights.. suggestion: 10th: Do some AKL stuff with whoever (don't know really, Simon may do, he was at LCA'04 - I spoke extensively with him about LCA'06 here in Dunedin) midday, fly CHC, meet with Craig, perhaps stay the night there? 11th: do CHC stuff, mid morning, fly to DUD, spend the night at my place, meet the Dunedin crew who'd do LCA'06. 12th: mid morning, fly to WGTN, Meet up with Sam, do GOVT stuff, late evening fly to AKL, stay somewhere in the city... no idea where :) 13th: shuttle *EARLY* to airport, and fly out :) Your travel agent should be able to sor those rought flights with you.. AirNZ Link service definitely does those legs. Look forward to seeing you again if you can make it this far south! :) > 08 JUN 04 - DEPART - BUENOS AIRES/MINISTRO P 2359 NON-STOP > 10 JUN 04 - ARRIVE - AUCKLAND/AUCKLAND INTL 0440 13HRS > 41MINS > Terminal: TERMINAL INTERNATIONAL > - AIRCRAFT - AIRBUS INDUSTRIE A340 ALL SERIES PAX > - CLASS - STANDARD > > SUNDAY ARGENTINA AIRL FLIGHT AR1182 CONFIRMED > 13 JUN 04 - DEPART - AUCKLAND/AUCKLAND INTL 0610 NON-STOP > Terminal: TERMINAL INTERNATIONAL > 13 JUN 04 - ARRIVE - SYDNEY/SYDNEY KINGSFORD 0800 03HRS > 50MINS > Terminal: TERMINAL 1 > - AIRCRAFT - AIRBUS INDUSTRIE A340 ALL SERIES PAX > - CLASS - STANDARD Mike.
