I'll chime in with my set up here. I have my gentoo machine, and my partner's machine now running gentoo. Both of them mount /usr/portage/distfiles as an nfs mount from my Mandrake server. That way, everything I've downloaded is availible to her, and vice versa. I tried to share the entire portage
