It works, but volume control sliders in xmms, xine, and any other
app that has one only have 2 volumes...off at zero position, or on
(constant volume) everywhere else on the slider position...

The numbers for the same device for scsi and ide are not necessarily the
same. Use dev=ATAPI: -scanbus!
All nothing new though, works the same with 2.4.

Hard to say, I'll have to time it. I've only rebooted once since the
compile and it seemed to flash past pretty quick. i left the old kernel
and modules there too.
System seems more responsive and multimedia files seem to play smoother.
