I did some testing and i found out that it keeps polling. With a strace i
got this:
clock_gettime(CLOCK_MONOTONIC, {4442, 529673320}) = 0
poll([{fd=4, events=POLLIN}], 1, 0) = 1 ([{fd=4, revents=POLLIN}])
read(4, \1\0\0\0\0\0\0\0, 16) = 8
write(4, \1\0\0\0\0\0\0\0, 8)
