Both of these run X.org, so I'm sure we'd need even less flash storage
for a text-mode interface.
The Linux-tiny project maintained by Sony also has patches to reduce
kernel size:

GRUB 2 is also supported as a LinuxBIOS payload now.[1] Can GRUB 2
boot from USB?

the user type the pathname where the kernel is found

So, what do you guys think about a userspace boot manager stored in
the ROM?

Indeed, thank you very much YH for helping to make LinuxBIOS on some
of the latest desktops a reality. Once the code has been released,
I'll work to spread the word among Free/Open Source Software users who
I'm sure will create an increase
present highly integrated and incompatible with other parts.
LinuxBIOS, with its open design, would complement this goal very well
by enabling the community to help fix compatibility problems that may
arise. In the end, consumers will benefit from having more
forward-compatible hardware.

about supporting LinuxBIOS on motherboards
containing VIA K8T89 / VIA 8237A chipsets: these work with the latest
generation AMD desktop processors (Athlon 64 X2/Athlon 64 FX/Athlon
64/Sempron).
Two motherboards using these chipsets are ASRock AM2V890-VSTA and ASUS
M2V.

T
modern digital camcorders have included this connection since
1995. [2]
I think the MSI K9N Platinum motherboard would therefore be better
suited for a Multimedia PC.
