I looked into this, and as far as I can tell, this is for redhat-based kvm, not
vmware. Am I missing something?
Here is what I get when I try and load ptp_kvm:
modprobe ptp_kvm
modprobe: ERROR: could not insert 'ptp_kvm': No such device

You have to use the ptp_kvm linux module for this. See
