ATTENTION ADAM TODD - I tried to send this via email but it
bounced. Since adam monitors the dp and possible ifwp lists I have posted
my questions here. Please respond as soon as possible.

Thanks

Subject: IRSC root servers - problems with

Hello Adam:

I'm writing to you concerning the IRSC root servers. I seem to be having
some problems with understanding the infrastructure.

You seem to have 3 different root files.

ftp://aursc.ah.net/rsc/aursc/root.cache

rs1.aursc.ah.net. 518400 IN A 203.21.205.2
rs2.aursc.ah.net. 518400 IN A 203.21.205.3

For the AURSC - both root servers look as if they are on the same string -
if your routing fails to network 203.21.205 - your clients will lose name
service. Also both roots do not allow for axfr on the root zone, so there
is no means of verifying the root file.

ftp://aursc.ah.net/rsc/irsc/root.eursc

In the eursc file dig returns a Bad server response for zhar.praud.com.,
and zothommog.praud.com. Both root server hosts are not listed in the
dns. Also both hosts are on the same IP string, so the same problem
exists as does with the aursc root.

ftp://aursc.ah.net/rsc/irsc/root.world

In the irsc root file zhar.eursc.net. does not
resolve. zothommog.eursc.net is listed with the ip
address of 212.234.36.19 but it resolves to 194.206.189.36 and when that
server is asked questions the operation times out.

ns1.starfire.douglas.ma.us. does zone transfers but the SOA is
ROOT.STARFIRE.DOUGLAS.MA.US. hostmaster.STARFIRE.DOUGLAS.MA.US. and not
RS2.AURSC.AH.NET. AT.AH.NET.. dns.starfire.douglas.ma.us. is listed in
your roots with an ip address of 198.199.168.92 but it resolves to an ip
address of 206.225.44.40 which at the time of the test was
unreachable. ns2.starfire.douglas.ma.us. has a listed ip address in the
root of 207.180.91.10 but it resolves to an ip address of 216.129.136.10
and the soa has the same problems as ns1 - it returns an soa of
ROOT.STARFIRE.DOUGLAS.MA.US. hostmaster.STARFIRE.DOUGLAS.MA.US. and not
RS2.AURSC.AH.NET. AT.AH.NET..

Could you advise what is happening with your roots.

Regards
Joe Baptista
