I don't think you can't attach two functions with window.onload, so
effectively the 2nd one gets ignored. You could add an event listener
function to your js or go for something like the whatever:hover -

I prefer to define all by database, with UTF-8 support (using Mysql db). This
will guarantee also support for different languages and charset like japanese,
arabic, etc.
For fixed strings I prefer also to use XML. You can see an example in

more, suckerfish menus on one page...
