I agree with this. I have a tendency to design all my sites with a width of about 760; this leaves a bit of room on the sides, even at 800x600, and I generally find that it makes for a more readable layout. I would suggest that even if you design for larger than 800x600, that the main site content fit within the smaller width, it doesn't matter too much about extra bits of content at the sides. If you look at the various design blogs, many have a width of 1000px, but the actual blog entry text fi
