[ElectricMotorcycles] Alltrax powerup question

Now that's it's 10 degrees outside I decided to work on an Alltrax that was already indoors. I thought you could just hook one up to a standard 9 volt battery for programming. I tried this and don't get the results I'm after. No lights and no communication to the PC. What am I missing? http
