Cedric Lynch who designed the motor on which the Etek is based, is a friend of mine. He made extensive tests of the etek and knows it's limitations. If you go much over 300 amps then the efficiency falls off a cliff. The motor has been 'value engineered' down to a specific cost/performance

For those of us using the Etek motor.Which direction should the forced air cooling be routed? Towards the brushes or pulled thru the motor first, across the brush end? I have a 4 inch cpu fan on it now, with a 6.5 inch ready in the box (with a shroud.)Any thoughts? Thanks Paul

As far as directions, it is generally desired to have the fan blow air over the armature, then the commutator. The comm is more sensitive to dirt and debris. Getting dirt blown right at the comm while operating can potential scar the comm and damage it if dirt gets under the brushes. For the
