I'm not sure of the exact syntax, off the top of my head, but first things first. The obvious first step in resolving this is to upgrade to the latest Log4j release, which is 1.2.14. Many fixes have been made to Log4j since 1.2.8; even since 1.2.9, for that matter. This might solve your issue. If it does not, report back and we'll try to address it.
