Of course. MDC content is kept on a per thread basis. Since each session is
handled in its own thread, you can put a value into the MDC somewhere at the
entry point of a session (and remove it again when session is finished). The
formatter of log4j (at least the PatternLayout) can retrieve

Whats the status of log4j 2.0? I see it on the website, but no real
information, and there hasn't really been much talk of it that I can
see. I don't even see a Roadmap or anything like that. Should I pretty
much consider it null and void?

indication, I guess I needed to 'successor' or 'replacement' as part
