Hello Everybody, Just joined the list and wanted to quickly introduce myself. I'm a 26-year-old German guy, who is somewhat obsessed with electronic music, world travel and Perl programming, which I've done for 5+ years now. At the moment, I'm still in Ireland, where my efforts to find a "real" job over the last 9 months have been futile. The Celtic Tiger has turned into a bit of a limp pussycat.
Hence, I'm coming back to London next week and I hope to score something semi-permanent there, ideally in a position that lets me indulge my passion for Perl. So, to all you geezas on the ground there, how is the situation for Perlmongers in London? Are you all employed, fat and happy? How difficult is it to find a job there at the moment? From what I gather on the jobsites, good jobs are still scarce unless you are a degree-educated badass with 5 years investment banking (inbestment wanking) experience, which I am definitely not. Am I reading this correctly, and does anyone have any advice for a young strappin' lad keen to immerse himself in Perl in London at the moment? With any luck, I should be in town for the next London meeting and I'll be happy to knock back a cold one with some of your f2f!
