James, I've seen this happen on when running VMware displaying on the LTSP workstation. The answer was either using hwcursor or swcursor, I don't remember which, but it was an option in the XF86Config file. I think that was back with X3.3.6. I'm using X4.1.0 now, and I don't have any problem.

Novara, You might want to verify that dhcpd is in fact running. Try $ netstat -an | grep ":67" to see if it is running. You should see something like "udp0 0 0.0.0.0:67 0.0.0.0:*" If you don't then dhcpd is probably not running. You might want to post your dhcpd.conf h
