If the stand-alone router is providing nat/firewall service, then the LTSP
server should just use it as a gateway.
I too would add an additional switch to provide more ports. I have my D-Link
DI604 nat/firewall/router/dhcp appliance, which is a 4-port switch as well,
daisy chained to an 8-port sw
Just in case someone else might be interested. I discovered the most user friendly Linux NAT/Firewall software called firestarter (http://firestarter.sourceforge.net). I installed and configured the software in less than 2 minutes. Now all my LTSP clients boot as expected.
Bye, bye Shorewall!

Hi all,
Has anyone had a problem printing to HP4100N of HP4050N
printers using RedHat 7.3 and LTSP. We've been using
RedHat 7.2 with no problems. We brought another server
online with RedHat 7.3 and can't make it print.
We use printtool. We are currently printing to these
printers using RedHat 7
I am trying to set up an IBM Network Station 1000 to use LTSP. It
requires a different kernel the default one that comes with the LTSP
distro. IBM provides a kernel and associated files, like fonts, and
there is a howto describing how to configure the server and the client.

Please describe what error is happening! I am guessing your issue is
with DHCP at the moment, so please try to boot your client while running
"tail -f /var/log/messages" and watching what is happening on the
server. The 3c905b should be automatically detected by the kernel, and
that is not an iss
Could you please send more info about how the terminal "sleeps" the
second time around? It would be helpful to see the output of "tail
/var/log/messages" on the server, and the last few lines of the client's
console log. Also, how long does it "sleep" when the problem occurs?

If your client's MAC address is 00:10:5a:73:5e:5b, DHCP seems to be
working fine. The client got an IP, and it should start trying to TFTP

your client starts running the kernel and does another DHCP request. It

I understand what you are saying. However, I should mention that my cable router already serves are NAT/Firewall server.
I only need to LTSP server to service LTSP clients and give them access to the Internet for mail and web browsing. So in reality I only need my LTSP server to provide NAT - no
It is much easier to only connect 1 computer to the router to act as
the NAT/Firewall and route all internet traffic through that computer
by using 2 NICs.

Greetins,
I'm using the latest released version of LTSP with Red Hat 8.0. We have an
old-dog terminal emulation that the thin-clients need to use to get back to
our financial applications running on an AIX server. The problem is that
the application uses some weird keyboard mappings for the back

Hope this list can help me?
I have just done my first install of LTSP, with some degree of success,

Tom, I agree with you. I decided to use the LTSP server as a NAT/Firewall server because my cable router didn't have enough ports to connect all my computers to it.
In the end, I had to modify the Shorewall policy to accept ALL traffic from the LTSP LAN.
I am, however, still interested to learn h

We have two Linux-Mandrake 9.0 LTSP Servers, but the second, which we've just
configured is only able to mount the root filesystem on a terminal once, there
after it just sleeps.
The only difference between the servers is that the problem one uses PXELINUX

the answer is in the question, the message "no free leases" means

Rudolf,
Check the EXACT spelling/name of the file.
You show "2.4.19-ltsp-9"
but it should be "2.4.19-ltsp-1"
Notice the difference ? "-9" vs "-1".
If you get the filename wrong, then the error you are showing
really makes sense, the -9 kernel isn't there, so a
'file not found' message is corr
