Hi Holger The only firewall i'm running, is that which gateways out to the net (192.168.0.1), and does not come between my server 192.168.0.5, and my Mini-ITX workstation (bedroom 192.168.0.101). I'm not running iptables on the server (should i?), and tftp appears to be starting via xinetd. I

When using a PXE Boot Agent, you cannot download the ltsp kernel initially, you must first download a network bootstrap program (nbp). The nbp will in turn download an untagged ltsp kernel. If the nbp is greater than 32K in size then you will get the error message you mentioned below. Download

Do you also have an upgraded dhcpd? (Version 3 is needed according to my info. At least my EPIA Mini-ITX 5000 works with dhcpd 3.01 and a very simular setup (although I haven't checked all the codes in your dhcpd.conf)). dhcpd --version isc-dhcpd-V3.0pl2 Stuart.
