For the record, to avoid tftpd from locking up when booting the
mini-itx, add the command line option -r blksize
That, and the sneaky xinetd problem I reported earlier caused my
problems.

Hi Lonnie!
I have been playing around with LTSP at home and just booting from a floppy.
To answer your question, yes, you could have a the client boot from hard
disk. I haven't tried the local swap, but I see no reason why it wouldn't
work as well.
You can always check the archives to see if s

Ok, I'm a step further.
I went to rom-o-matic,and downloaded a DOS command image. I copied that
to a hard disk that boots into dos. Hooked it up to the mini-itx, and
ran the rom-o-matic file.
Network card found...
DHCP found, and returns IP no's

knoppix does indeed have tftp.
Worked fine.
Received x bytes in 0.4 sec.
I wish tftpd would have better reporting - even when I try to request a
bad filename, the server log file says

I love Gentoo. I have it running on three machines now. It takes the
hassle out of installing software, and ke
But it is mentioned in the installation guide ;-)
Is it? Hmmm, perhaps I should start reading the guides... just kidding,
apparently I missed that part.
I guess now comes the fun part: setting the correct keymap, setting the
correct resolution and so on...
One last question (for now): how do I

The address in lts.conf was correct; I just forgot (and it isn't
mentioned in the troubleshooting part of the documentation; it should!)

Well, I don't use the PXE-STUFF package, at least not for my knowlege.
All I did was alter the dhcpd.conf adding the lines that first download
the pxe-rom-image from rom-o-matic and then the kernel.
Last time I got this kind of message, I had i

I think the e1000 driver is not contained in the stock LTSP kernel,
So you need to get the ltsp_initrd_kit package,
