which are the basic options (server's kernel)? (nfs v3/4 over tcp?,
tcp/ip options?)
Which fs should i use reiserfs? ext3? xfs?
kernel 2.4 or 2.6?
a patched kernel for performance? or hardened? or just a vanilla o

If you had, you should have a kernel in /tftpboot/lts

I don't think Local apps is what you need. If the mouse is jerky,
you've probably got a networking issue.
Take a look at the collisions and tx and rx errors when you run ifconfig
on your server NIC.
Your mouse should always move smoothly, even at 10mbps.
