I have added the line
session required /lib/security/pam_mkhomedir.so skel=/etc/skel/ umask=0022
in /etc/pam.d/kdm.
and all works well with local home dirs. (debian, kde)

I had this client working under RH9 but I changed to Centos 3.3 and now
I can't seem to get it to work. I am using Karl's Netvista kernel.
I get a kernel panic- no init found.
I have spent hours on this and the only thing that I can see is that it
is not seeing the proper export for root.

I installed many LTSP Networks with Suse and Debian based servers,
now I tried gentoo as the server distro and discover a problem that
I did not have before:
kdm (or the X-Server on the diskless Client) is complainig about
wrong/missing
