What if you used a USB rescue kit like this one:

I use mine LOTS. Well worth the $30
OK, granted that it is not a good idea to use the
local harddrive in the thin client, but is it
possible?
I converted 10 Pentium Is with only 16MB RAM to thin
clients. My server is running Debian 4.0 in GNOME, and
the thin clients seem to work OK as long as I set
their screen resolution to 800x600

Heavy load - I do not see much use for it. I do not use it anywhere, not
in my laptop or on the desktop, when not testing LTSP 5...
It is cool, but useless - on the school or on the offi
Does it add extra load to the server?
Be cool to get it going on Ubuntu too.

No, it does not - with this very same test environment, just openSUSE. I
do not why. Graphic card is on board based Intel i845G.
Best Rega
Does compiz also work on ubuntu clients? Is there a trick to set it up
or just it just depend on an adequate graphics card?

LTSP 5 is really great with new hardware like wide flat screens (Acer
X203w, 20", 1680x1050) - with Compiz:

Best practice is use Ubuntu 8.04 Alternate with LTSP installation
option. It works much better than updating from repo's, I think.

Well done, now it works!

Now I got same functions on both systems, Ubuntu 8.04/Gnome and openSUSE
11/KDE4.
Let's hope that Fedora 9 will be there soon, too.
Hello to all LTSP community!

of intel p4.
i've installed ltsp packages from synaptic :
ltsp-server
