We've been using Opera in kiosk mode running as the shell... it works really
well, 6yrs in production.
I use an .xinitrd config file to launch opera instead of gnome with the
following commands:
#! /usr/bin/env bash
exec opera -k -nokeys -kioskbuttons -kioskresetstation -nomaillinks -nomail
-nomen
We started with etherboot but now we use PXE only... almost every client out
there supports it as well as PCs, laptops etc...

I having an issue with a LTSP Sever build.
Issue:
After entering the username and password on the the thin client I get a
blank screen with an arrow cursor. The cursor responds to mouse movements
but the screen never changes.
