According to the PXE boot sequence, the NIC on the HP Pavillion I am
currently trying to use as a client is defined as:
Atheros PCIE Ethernet Controller v2.1.0.9 (08/12/11)
Windows recognizes it* as Atheros AR8161/8165 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet
Controller (NDIS 6.20) and has no problem using it.

Thank you for the reply.
My setup is simply the Ubuntu LTSP box connected via 1 NIC to a hub, and a
client connected by a single NIC to the same hub.
There are no other computers/routers connected, so I assume that the DHCP

Try setting
LDM_DIRECTX=True
in lts.conf
(note spelling--it should be LDM_DIRECTX not LDM_DIRECX, if I recall

I had bad results with VIA clients like yours. Low memory, bad video
chips with worse drivers. Fortunately, I was able to replace them.

ltsp-server-standalone package. The server is 64 bit though the clients are
configured for i386.
The clients are able to boot and i can use the desktop environment. Though,
during surfing at Firefox, it sometimes freezes. The
