I don't believe there's a proper way to resolve the issue. We've explored
trying to expose the mounts through udisks and such, but haven't had much luck.

We're exploring ways to do this differently with LTSP 6, but that may be some
time in coming...

That's a really interesting question, since the fuse filesystem is essentially
proxying writes to the *real* filesystem. And I *think* it's mounted in "sync"
mode client-side, but I wouldn't recommend trying it with important data!
