Sorry for incomplete question.
OS: Debian edu 7.1 (main/LTSP combined server)
Problem: "etckeeper failed to commit changes in /etc" when make apt-get
install/remove/upgrade in chroot /opt/ltsp/i386 (fat client os)
The problem happens every time I run apt-get as root (with "su -" but also
with
If I do:
# ltsp-chroot -m apt-get upgrade
I get several errors
instead if I do:
$ su -
# ltsp-chroot -m
# apt-get update
Ctrl-D
All is fine.
Also by using sudo it works ok:
$ ltsp-chroot -m apt-get upgrade
Why these differences?
Thanks in advance
At school we have a HP server (CPU Intel 2 x 6-core, 64GB RAM) with 3 x
600GB 6G SAS 10Krpm, RAID 5.
We would install on it a Debian Edu 7.0 (combined server: "main" and LTSP
server).
The thin clients are all Atom, 1GB RAM (number: 30) and they will work as
"diskless" (low-fat clients).
Our mai
I configured LTSP as follows:
- SCREEN_01: telnet
- SCREEN_02: startx
X has not been configured yet (I see only classic gray X background
with x cursor) but while I am working on SCREEN_01 (telnet session)
happens that - without no reason - , sometime, client exits from console
mode
and switchs to
I was wondering how I could configure keyboard (italian) for a console
mode session (SCREEN_01 = telnet).
It seems that /etc/rc* files/dirs doesn't contain any keyboard entry.
Thanks in advance

I configured LTSP 4.1 according to online doccumentation.
The client boots (I'm using etherboot image on a floppy drive),
it got IP,DNS,gateway informations from DHCPd, but it fails
on the next step: downloading vmlinuz image from server.
Error is "access violation"; so I chmoded 777 /tftpboot.
Now
I can't boot network (using PXE) with a m/board Asus P4B.
In BIOS boot settings there is the entry: "NetworK: INT 19"
but at boot, system does nothing, no message is displayed
and the system boots immediately to the second device (hard disk
in my case).
Does this m/b support properly PXE?
Thanks in
I'd use Win2k/XP boot.ini in order to make a boot menu:
1. Boot Win2k (locally installed on each client)
2. Boot LTSP server (client acts as diskless client)
so I was thinking to made a .COM executable etherboot image
(through rom-o-matic), put it somewhere on each hard
disk (i.e. C:\WINNT) and bo
Which booting method do you suggest:
PXE or Etherboot?
Thanks in advance.

Is there a way to let user make a choice, at boot,
between OS (Win2k) installed locally (on the client) and
