I have a very strange problem which hunted me during the last days :-| After changing my server from suse 7.3 (Xfree86 4.1) to gentoo the keyboards of the diskless clients stopped working. The hints I've found about XFree <-> Xorg problems doesn't solve my probelm (even installing XFree86 4.3.99 does not help) . It is not the "mouse not correctly configured" problem (the clients worked fine over the last years and I have not modified them and they still do with the old sever). It's not related to the kdm login magager (I've tried also with xdm). It is unrelated to xkb (the problem still exists when I disable the Xkbd extension "Option Xkbddisable true").
So now comes the really strange part: Of course I've tested the new server. But only under vmware where I experienced no problems.
