This is a howto for combining 2 servers in a load balancing and
failover configuration:

The cloop driver that Knoppix uses for its compressed file system is
a block device... so if there's plenty of ram available, frequently used
apps like Mozilla and OpenOffice should tend to remain
I just came across an interesting interview with Klaus Knopper on
OSNews. Toward the bottom of the first page he talks about Knoppix forks
and says: "I know that a LTSP fork is using a Knoppix version"...
Does anyone know where this distribution can be found? Google didn't
have anything useful on

architecture are welcomed and appreciated.

There are several flavors of Wine available that work to various
degrees. The original and totally free version is here:

A small CD rescue disk that has a very complete set of tools can be

We're having a strange problem trying to get StarOffice 6.0 and
LTSP working with NT authentication. We install (with the -net
option) and setup SO6 as root. We can also login with gdm and
a local account and run SO6 without any problems. When we log
in with gdm via the domain, however, we have th

This isn't LTSP related. It's hanging on a variety of systems and is a
known issue.
Cruising the OM help forum, I found out it's an rpm file bug. Th

Thanks, Duane... this is a good reference. I had all the winbind related
stuff working per this faq... the problem was with xdm. The pam.d
service file for xdm doesn't tie into system-auth..
Hi folks,
I'm trying to get our LTSP terminals to authenticate via the school's NT
domain. I've got winbind working from the console login... but not from
the terminals yet.
We're using xdm and I've noticed that xdm in /etc/pam.d is completely
different from the files for gdm and kdm. Both kdm a

Sounds very cool! Is your code for clustering based on configuring a
primary and secondary dhcpd config? If you're taking a different
approach, I'd

To clarify, here are the requirements for this project:
1. 2 LTSP servers per classroom, a primary and secondary.
2. The two servers split the boot

I'm new to the list and apologize if this question has been asked
before. My searches have come up empty so I thought I'd ask here.
Over the Summer, I've set up an LTSP system with 10 terminals at a local
elementary school where LTSP was able to save a lot of perfectly good
equipment from being
