I would like to build distcc to run across all of the ltsp workstations. I have
heard that someone on the list has done so. Where do I begin?

After recently formatting the server machine (don't ask), I've been trying to
enable local apps on the clients... unsuccessfully. I've never had this problem
before. I followed the directions precisely (or so I thought), and did it
several times, yet I keep receiving this error message on the cli

I have been having difficulty in using ssh to contact the clients, and I believe
it is because of a faulty NIS installation. I've solved several (thousand)
errors which were mostly my fault, and now am down to what I believe is the
final error. Upon running ssh to a client, I get the response:

I recently installed the latest LTSP-4 build released on monday. I have been
having problems with NIS. I noticed several things that are amiss. First, in
/etc/rc.sysinit on the client, line 358 is as follows:
echo "ypserver ${NIS_SERVER}" >>/tmp/yp.conf
Now, as I understand it, the syntax for

You spelled the kernel name wrong. At the end, you have ltps-2, whereas it's
ltsp-2. Little typos like that will kill you.

Thank you for your reply, Jim. The kernel works nicely.
Regarding my second question which I left in the quote below, should I use the
directory structure created by building the lbe, or the one that the install
script created?

I am switching from LTSP 3 to 4 to see how the new version operates. I noticed
several differences in the installation, and had a few questions I was hoping
someone could help with. First, I installed ltspcfg.rpm (the server is a rh9
system) and ran the install script using the command:
wget -q
Is there any way to telnet into a client and go su? Busybox doesn't recognize
the command.

Does anyone have any idea how to load up condor locally? Basically, I need to
have glibc2.3 installed on the client side. I tried downloading the tarball
and installing it after booting into runlevel 3, but it dodn't like that so
much. Any ideas on how best to install glibc2.3 on the clients?
Has anyone tried to install glibc2.3 on the client file system? I need this to
run certain apps locally. Is there an easier way?

Last year, Cere M. Davis inquired about Condor and ltsp. I am doing the same,
and am having moderate success. I enabled Local Apps, and am telnetting back to
the client to run the init program, which will setup the client so that it can
receive batch jobs from the server. The only remaining prob
