Opening a .jnlp file is like opening a .doc file; it doesn't require any support from the browser, and it doesn't require any plugins. It runs locally and natively inside the OS. After you open it, you can even close the browser. Or you can get it with wget. Or you can store it locally and launc

Wow! that was close, almost updated my Firefox this morning. Thanks Alkis. Now, I just tried the java app in question (ends in .jnlp) on my mac which has FF v. 52 and get the message "What should Firefox do with this file?" and I click on "Java Web Start" and it starts! Now this seems to contradic
