Hi,

I'm trying to get old Artec DBE60 thin clients to work with ltsp5 (they
were ok with 4.2) but getting kernel crash with default ltsp5 nbi.img.

DBE60 has etherboot 5.0.8 (tagged ELF Natsemi) on-board.

Loading default ltsp5 nbi.img crashes kernel right at the start. I tryed
newer client update-kernels script (not present in ubuntu 8.04 release
but in bazaar - rev. 581) to generate legacy-nbi with mknbi-linux
(v1.4.4) - DBE60 seems to transfer the legacy-nbi.img file but gives
'Unable to load file' error from etherboot prompt afterwards.

Only thing that works is older ltsp4 2.6.17.8-ltsp-1 kernel that I
hacked together with ltsp_kernel_kit and made it using ltsp5 initramfs
files - booting this kernel image works until getting root file system
through NBD - then it fails.

I compared ltsp4 build_initframfs and ltsp5 update_kernels scripts and I
can't see much differences about using mknbi-linux there - yet ltsp4
script produces booting image and ltsp5 script is not.
I think also initrd format has changed from filesystem image to cpio
archive by that time - could this produce the problem - older etherboot
not able to unpack cpio format initrd? Any ideas what else has changed
to produce this kind of problem? How to build ltsp5 custom kernels - are
they pure distro kernels? Where to get ltsp5 kernel configs?

Best regards,
