I've had several headaches with i810 X.org. We recently are upgrading most terminals to Dell Optiplex GX100 (Pentium 3), and they all run i810 which often crashes on sites with Adobe Flash such as http://nadaguides.com and http://sprint.com . After X dies, you see the console with an X crash message. Keyboard commands do nothing (although the caps lock can be toggled).
On these systems, I use: [DellOptiplexGX110] X_VIDEORAM = 4096 X4_MODULE_01 = glx The terminals typically have 384MB of RAM. The terminal server has: - LTSP 4.2 update 4 - Fedora Core 5 - firefox-1.5.0.7-1.fc5 - flash-plugin-7.0.68-1.fc5.rf Is there a way to prevent or diagnose these crashes? How do I find the right value for X_VIDEORAM ? This problem is basically the same as these: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=7365 http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/xorg/2005-March/007200.html I am going to try to reduce Firefox memory usage and look for an improvement. Also, I'm looking at the xrestop tool. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Reducing_memory_usage_(Firefox) http://kb.mozillazine.org/Browser.cache.memory.capacity Andrew ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Using Tomcat but need to do more?
