Is there any chance you are assigning the same IP address to
the client and the server ?
Please do this, and send us the output:
ifconfig -a
Also, send us a copy of your dhcpd.conf file.

server, just to restart the net don't helps.
Also to set the ip manually with "ipconfig eth0
