Brent, The login screen background is set in /etc/X11/xdm/ There is a file there called ltsp.gif You can overwrite that with another gif image if you want to change the graphic. The file is called from /etc/X11/xdm/Xsetup_workstation so you can edit that file to call load any gif you choose
