I'm trying to setup LTSP to do ltspfs as well as LDA, but am running into what appears to me to be a conflict between the setup of these.

According to the directions for setting up ltspfs (http://wiki.ltsp.org/twiki/bin/view/Ltsp/LtspFS#Fixing_up_some_of_the_LTSP_scrip), I need to make /tmp world-writable via rc.sysinit.

However, if ssh is required for LDA to work (I'm still new at this, so bear with me), ssh complains at having /tmp world-writable: "/tmp must be owned by root and not group or world-writable".

I found an old post addressing the problem of ssh and having /tmp world-writable: http://www.mail-archive.com/ltsp-discuss@lists.sourceforge.net/msg23445.html. The poster of that message didn't successfully, at least in the context of the thread, solve the problem. I have implemented the suggestions offered in that thread, to no avail.

I am curious as to how ssh works generally with /tmp permissions set at 1777, but not on an LTSP thin client?

Thanks much,
