I finally figured out (from reading some entries from this list) that I could make my older video card work on 2.09pre4 by just copying the old XF86_SVGA file from ltsp2.08 into /opt/ltsp/i386/usr/X11R6/bin/. I also found that my trident 9880 card that didn't work with ltsp2.08 and XFree86 3.3.x works great now with ltsp2.09 and X 4.x . Thanks for the help. The situation: I am using the 2.09pre4-4 pre compiled kernel and an initrd.gz made with the buildk script and modules compiled from 2.4.9 kernel sources (no patches applied downloaded straight from www.kernel.org. Because we have intel nics with no place for boot roms, we are using pxegrub 0.90 compiled with --diskless-enable --enable-eepro100. I am also using pxegrub to boot ltsp2.08 with a kernel compiled from the same source. The problem: pxegrub boots ltsp2.08 fine, but with ltsp2.09 I receive kernel errors about every third or fourth boot. I believe that the error occurs before the dhcp client runs. Does anyone else have pxegrub working with ltsp2.08? Could someone send me their initrd.gz so I can check to see if that is my problem? I have built the initrd.gz twice. I don't understand why it works sometimes and others not. Could it be that the memory is not cleaned out enough with a warm reboot? Any ideas?
