I had a similar problem with an ASUS Wireless AP. problem was that the
adaptor was quite slow.
Try sending smaller packets
I added wsize=2048,rsize=2048 to the startup file in
/tftpboot/lts/2.6.17.8-ltsp-1/pxelinux.cfg
the line now looks like

i had a similar phenomena and by changing defective network cable from the
workstation to the hub/switch the problem was solved. may be it's what you
have ?

Sounds like you may have a speed/duplex mismatch between the host and the
switch it is plugged into. You may have to configure the switch port to match
the host NICs setting if it can't autonegotiate.
